A Quick Story About Our Journey

Rain City Roost Co. began in 2014 in the rainy Pacific Northwest, where backyard chickens have become a beloved part of life for many families. Living in the Seattle area, we quickly learned that keeping chickens requires a coop that can stand up to wet weather while keeping birds safe, dry, and comfortable year-round.

Like many first-time chicken owners, we were drawn in by the adorable baby chicks available for just a few dollars each. We brought them home excitedly, only to realize a few weeks later that those tiny chicks would soon become full-grown chickens needing a safe and secure home.

When we started shopping for a coop, we quickly discovered that many options were either overpriced—often costing well over $1,500—or required the time, tools, and expertise to build one completely from scratch. We wanted something affordable, practical, and easy to maintain.

So, we designed our own.

What started as a solution for our backyard flock soon grew into Rain City Roost Co., a business dedicated to helping chicken owners find high-quality coops at a reasonable price. Inspired by Seattle's nickname, the "Rain City," our goal has always been to build coops that are durable, functional, and ready for the challenges of Pacific Northwest weather.

Over the years, we have continually tested, refined, and improved our designs based on real-world experience caring for chickens. Today, our coops feature thoughtful details that make life easier for both you and your flock, including:
